What I Did For Summer Vacation

I promised you a picture of my latest project.

RJ-YJ138.jpg

She makes her maiden flight on August 18th. The white part of the airframe is where I had to stretch it to make room for a new, larger altimeter bay. It'll be painted black to match this week. I also plan to stretch the rocket another fourteen inches in the near future to accommodate the "big honkin' motor" that I originally envisioned flying in her.

3 Looks good, Ted. Too bad Mrs. Ted (or whoever snapped the pic) couldn't wait two more seconds so we could see the dog lift his leg on it. Not that I *want* the dog to pee on it; it just would have been a funny picture.

Dogs going to the bathroom on labors of love=high hilarity, you know?

4 Ted,

Solid or liquid propellant?

Launch site? Expected altitude?

Do you need a permit to launch these things?

Thx - Ron

5 Ted,
You are standing tall and looking good. The
rocket looks great man...

6 The motor will be a hybrid type, using a solid propellant and nitrous oxide as the oxydizer. I'm going to keep this first flight below 3000' (simulations say ~2600').

I'll be launching at Great Meadow, VA with our rocket club, NOVAAR, and we have an FAA waiver to 4500'.
