I Just Realized
Apparently, the migration script Pixy used to move
Rocket Jones over to Minx from Movable Type removed some punctuation.
Honest, I do know what an apostrophe is!

I once posted a review on tirerack.com, an online vendor of wheels and tires and such, and every last apostrophe I'd used had been stricken away by whatever application they were using to port the contents of the text box over to their database.
Which, if nothing else, proves that it's not just some crazed Pixyism.

Two Out, Man on Third, Bottom of the Ninth...
Pitcher throws a wild pitch that's only partially blocked by the catcher. Ball goes almost to the backstop and the man on third breaks for home. Pitcher covers the plate, catcher slides on his knees, spins and throws. Ball, pitcher and runner arrive simultaneously. Slide, plate blocked, pitcher tags, falls...
Out. Game over. Our guys win.

Cue World's Smallest Violin
On a forum I frequent, someone started a thread about how bad things are with the economy in the tank. Why, the poor dear even noticed that there were less people at the oil-change place when he took his car in to be serviced!
Asshat.

I'm Probably Not Welcome There Anymore
Daughter Robyn and husband Henry are in town for the weekend for a family occasion. Tonight they wanted to go to IKEA.
Part of the fun of IKEA is the Swedish names that the designers give everything. I assume they're real Swedish and not just made-up pseudo-English, although some of the smaller items seem kinda contrived. Myself, I love to go through and make up my own names.
In the kid's furniture section I loudly announced that this particular series was call "Preestbate", and was my favorite until I saw "Shakmee".
I got plenty of dirty looks, and a few snickers hidden behind hands.
Fookemm.

Actually, the names for IKEA products are made up, although real Scandinavian languages are used as a basis - the specific language depends on the type of product.
I love
going to IKEA and pronouncing all the names aloud in a Swedish Chef accent. Of course, I am insane.

Life is Too Short to Use Cheap Paper
So now you've gotten your hands on a
Fisher Space Pen or
Pilot G-2, right? That's only half the battle, because it's not just what you write with, it's what you write *on*.
My favorite paper for everyday use is Hewlett-Packard 32# Premium Choice Laserjet paper. Yep, 32 pound, compared to that shitty 20# recycled crap you snag from the copier room. It's smoooooooth and heavy enough to be noticed. Bright white too, although I prefer a cream or off-white paper.
You can get this stuff at Office Depot and places like that. I recently saw half-reams on sale for $4.00, and when it rang up for $3.00 I went back for more. Normal price is about $17.00 a ream, which sounds like a lot until you remember that this is 500 sheets of quality writing paper. I suppose you could feed it through your printer or copier too. If you insist.
The HP 28# paper is almost as good. Almost.
Here's another goody for you, because I'm a nice guy. If you go to the website for the
Mohawk Paper Company, you can order free samples. Five sheets of up to five different types of paper, including Strathmore! Did I mention free? As in nada, zip, zilch. Not even postage due. It's not a one-time offer either, you can go back later for more (not the same day though ya oinker). I ordered a swatchbook from them and it's chock full of interesting and excellent papers. It's free dammit. Go try some and see what I'm talking about.
Oh, they're big-time green too, which is a great thing.
Pamper yourself in little ways, that's part of what

The Bestest Cheap Pen You Can Buy
Seriously, try the Pilot G-2 and see if it doesn't make your ballpoint feel like you're scratching wood with a rusty nail.
They're about a buck each at any office supply store or the stationery aisle of your favorite mega-chain. For that price, how could you *not* try one?

That's the pen I use at work. The fine tip is truly fine enough to write lots of stuff in a very small space. Some of my co-workers complain about the ink blobbing or drying out, but I've used several 'til they were empty.
And I have the empty pens in a cup on my desk, in case I ever get around to finding refills. (Our purchasing department seems content to buy just the pens by the box.) In the meantime, it drives people nuts when they go to borrow a pen and it is out of ink, and I get teased for keeping the dead pens as trophies.

Since I happen to work for a major pen manufacturer - not Pilot - I have not had the pleasure. I do have the occasional "competitive product" in my pen cup though. You find them lying around here and there if you know where to look.

I clicked on Add Comment to the post above this one and didn't get a comment field, so here I am, commenting in the wrong area for the other post.
I applaud your new plan. Sounds good. I can't write old-fashioned letters or anything else, in fact, signing my name on a check or whatever has become a real adventure. Because I can't do handwriting and never really could. I just spazz. My brain knows what I want to write and how to form the letters of the words but I can't seem to get it to emerge from my hand legibly. It's gotten a lot worse over the years to the point where I can't even read my own (hand) writing. Not kidding.

Odd, it does the same thing to me. I wonder if having a post name the same as the category name somehow screwed something up.
Oh Pixy!

That's Not Supposed To Happen
Gettin' hammered with spam here on the new Minx platform. It's easier to delete than on Movable Type, so between that and the Dalai Llama, I've got that going for me.
